Newbie from Herts

Post by nehpets13 »

Hi all,

A hello from a complete newbie at all this.

The world around us seems to me be on a knife edge and very fragile and a friend and I have started talking about prepping and now need to put words into actions as both of us have families mine consisting of 6 of us!

We are campers so do have a fair bit of equipment already and have a large 4x4 and trailer which I shall be kitting out with emergency gear and also look into wether it can run on veg oil!

Going to have to start small as funds very limited. Is there a list of essentials that I could go by? Also can someone tell me what all the abbreviations are? lol

Cheers guys

Stephen

Hello and welcome.

For abbreviations have a look here

Top tips for new preppers have a look here

I would recommend starting with water, food, alternative lighting and cooking facilities (which you probably have if campers).

Hope that helps. Any questions just ask :D

Hello and welcome to the Forum. :)

Firstly, don't panic. With your camping equipment, 4x4 and trailer you have a solid foundation already.

As Su has already posted, look at the links provided, and remember the only dumb question is the one not asked.

Grrrr, I sounded like my dad then
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Welcome, think about what you are prepping for power cuts  bad weather :o zombies :tinfoil. Water, water, and more water, loo roll, loo roll and more loo roll ( believe me your family will thank you for the loo rolls)
If the family agree to it, do a dry run turn off all your electric, water and if possible gas for a day/weekend(don't tell them before hand just get them to agree that as some point you will turn off modern life) and see what you use of your stock and how you use it and that should give you an idea what you need to stock up with the most.

Welcome ....... Seems to be all covered above ....so just welcome! :D

Ooooooo just thought of something .... Dont know how much you have looked through already but look through the subjects already in threads ....I have found just about everything I could ask has already got a thread about it (if not 10 threads lol) and in most cases have found the answer (and a few more questions!!! Lol) with a bit of a read

Enjoy the site I have been on a little while now but have found it both massively informative and inspiring
