Parrafin pressure stove

Post by loadofold »

I just checked over and test ran one of my camping stoves and stocked up with more fuel, I also have a few camping gas, 2 hex, and a Trangia. I bought mine new about 30 years ago its had a lot of use since then, it burns hot, its very reliable and cheap to run. New paraffin pressure stoves seem hard to find these days.
They can be difficult to use if your not familiar with them but they're just an amazing piece of kit along with the paraffin pressure lamp (Tilley) if used correctly.
Possibly more use for a Bug In situation although it is easy to disassemble and packs away fairly small, most types of fuel stoves I understand produce carbon monoxide gas so a good idea to use them only with ventillation to outside

Yes tigs boiling water would be a good use for one of these as the flame is very hot, I only have slight sense of smell these days but its a blessing when firing up a paraffin burner, best place for using one of these would be outside.

The shinabro 340 a good solid stove. I've more paraffin stoves than I'll admit to owning (well, got to have a hobby) and use one or two on my camping trips. Very easy to maintain and even with the high price of paraffin these days, still cheap to run.

Rik is there any chance of a better pic of that woodburner in the background, is it homemade or does someone make them like that? I have only found larger ones

I have been working on plans for something similar that i was going to fabricate.

looks similar to a frontier log burner about£140 new http://www.campingsolutions.co.uk/stove ... ier-stove/ or a Wildo' Military Wood Burning Tent Stovehttp://www.militarymart.co.uk/index.php ... ct_id=1340

The frontier stove is smaller, the flue is shorter and the build quality is not as good; I sold mine and got the Wildo.

Use it a lot in my para shelter
