Well that wasn't good..... Glad to see you are viewing as a chance to upgrade (or trying to).... How's Mr JJ's welding skills?
Not much welding skill. The carrier frame was timber. We'd been a bit timid in fixing it down to the rubber membrane roof, because we didn't want lots of holes.
I'm still not sure how to get rid of the broken ones. My council won't take them as regular collected 'Bulky Waste' I need to check at the tip.

Big sheet of plastic on the floor safety glasses and gloves knock all the glass out...
Bend frames till they snap and hoy the lot in the general waste wheelie bin covered with general waste and the cats litter tray contents dumped on top they dont rummage through that stench
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong
Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

The glass is well bonded. I don't rule out that idea, but first, I'll visit the tip to ask. Our tip, you have to book in on weekends. PITA
I've had a report from a frequent visitor to a big regional waste management site. It has lots of huge buildings where you'd expect conveyor belts and mechanical sorters etc. Truth is everything from Dog 5hit to sofa-beds just gets shoved into the same heap, ready for landfill and those majestic buildings are just more indoor heaps..... TV's , small appliances, freezers, tyres, and distinct metal are the only things segregated to any extent and they get shipped offsite.
Even the local household waste site has better separation.
