Newbie

Post by Prep007 »

Hello everyone, thought I should introduce myself. I'm a female beginner prepper and based in Shropshire. Bit of a born prepper I've always thought ahead but have only recently started gathering kit and supplies. Main concerns for me are civil unrest and electricity failure. Really keen to learn how everyone else is getting on :)

Welcome to the forum! I always think of Shropshire as very rural, what are the issues that you see? I live in a small town myself, but its near a lot of big ones, wondering if thats your situation too? And yes, power cuts of all sorts of durations increasingly common.

Good morning and thanks for the welcome!

Yes it is mostly rural but I live on the edge of a large town in the county. We have great major roads here but I see that as a risk too, in event of an emergency the roads could be packed with either those fleeing Birmingham or those trying to access the huge supermarkets within a few hundred metres from here. I've a bug out location secured in the hills and also have plans for staying put if needed. Very aware neighbours and friends haven't even thought of any potential issues ever happening so it's great to be part of a community of like minded people!

Hi, and welcome.
There's lots of resources and ideas here, from many different perspectives. We have some who could do the whole Bear Grylls 'live in the woods thing to some who just set aside a few extra loo rolls. And no harsh judgements. I too, prep for medium to long term societal breakdown, from long power outage, to supermarket supply chains failing for many weeks.
It's surprising what we take for granted and don't consider, so outlining your own plans will get you useful feedback.
Being at least a little prepared can improve your comfort, confidence and survival chances massively. And it doesn't have to cost anything.
But, I suggest keeping your preparedness very discrete. Never on Facebook, for example.

Welcome. You are based in a lovely part of the country, one of our favorites, especially around the Stiperstones where there are some great walks. Enjoy the forum. :D
