Regular trap checking is a legal necessity.Pest controller at work told me that,' ahem' standing or stamping is illegal. Be aware.

Cheers, wasn't aware that stamping on beasties was illegal. Not that I have or would of course...

I'm just not keen on seeing beasties suffer and have a fair bit of weight to bear down. ;)

That's the silly thing I wandered back to my car to get the hammer a spade would have been quicker but the allotment is overlooked so I'm careful what I do.... Got some decent nitrile gloves this afternoon and yellow bags to put the remains in... If I get a good few I'll take them to work and put them in the big incinerator.. don't know if neighbours have out poison down so don't want the cats finding a easy meal

That’s news to me. I have a bucket of the stuff from the local farm supply shop. It’s getting low.
Mind you, metaldehyde slug pellets are on the ban list from May I believe. I have stocked enough to last approximately 3 seasons, and that will give me time to find an alternative that actually works effectively.

The world is full of snottin’ eco- do- gooders!

It's entirely possible to use tobacco to make a fast acting, humane rodent killer. Having made it, you'd just need to mix it up in some peanut butter or something and leave it in runs. Be prepared to change what it's mixed into, as if a rat takes something new & dies, the rest of the colony won't touch it. Also be aware that it will likely kill any other small critters that eat it and is not at all good for humans. Make it strong enough, it'll kill those too. That one requires responsible handling and very very clear labelling. It's a back up for me, should I not ever be able to use other methods - one of those things you learn & tuck away for emergencies.

(I am not advocating illegal actions. As far as I am aware, it is not illegal to make this substance or administer it as a vermin poison, but it can be, if strong enough, extremely dangerous for humans and, as with all poisons, does not discriminate between vermin and, say, the family pet.)
