1 man tents,..

Post by Yorkshire Andy »

so im taking the G/Fs 14 yo son wild camping with a few of my mates so i need another 1 man tent (for him he's rather shy and likes his own space which is fair enough)

ive used a budget Proaction argos special a few times and its stood up ok... but now i need a tent for him and they have discontinued it i have well and truely had the £15 i paid for it out of it and its still going strong

so £50 mark what backpacking small / light as possible tent for him / me to use ? obvioulsy we want something that will blend in and be light and small packsize as possible

What you want is a Rocktrail 1/2 man backpacking tent. I have one I no longer use, I'm of the age where I like to walk into a tent now, not crawl in on knackered old knees! It has been through howling gales english monsoons and never leaked. It weighs 1.7kg and packs to about 27cmx15cm. It's a single skin jobbie in green and grey. I got mine at Lidl several years ago so not sure if they still do them.

What about something like this? I've no connection with the seller but it looks decent value to me.

Theres a couple in my daily ebay search, but Tesco do some pretty good small domes and you would probably get 2 for the same price? A 2 man dome will be easier to get dressed in than any 1 man tent, trust me i have a few.

Seen this just unsure of the quality I won't expect much for £35 but I'd like to hear if anyone has one..

Most of the complaints in reviews seem to be from people who have no idea ;) small tents need the vents left open from experience..

Thats the only snag with ebay stuff, you never know what your going to get. That said the op is taking a young lad with him, it might not be a regular thing, for the odd night out that or something similar would probably be fine, on the plus side it's cheap.
