Home growing and backyard chickens

Post by Grayman »

Last year I bought my first home and started growing my own produce which I am starting to harvest now. We also have three egg layers (getting chickens was one of the best things I've ever done.)

My vegetable planter and herbs. The plastic trough is a plastic garden chest from b&q (around £20.)

Nice set up. One of my more technically able colleagues may move this post to the food and nutrition section. Do not be alarmed if they do. :D

I'd love to get chooks, we're in a new build so the garden is a bit on the small side and its actually in our deeds that we're not allowed them. :( Having said that, we're only allowed 1 cat or dog I think, we've got 2 of each so we laugh in the face of rules and regulations, mwah hah hah.

Thanks guys and apologies for posting in the wrong section.

It's my dream to have a small holding to increase the amount I can grow and keep some livestock, we shall be looking for somewhere new in a few years time so fingers crossed I can find something more suitable. Until then I am just trying to gain some knowledge and experience where possible :-).

I had 2 hens for 2 of us, and really enjoyed them. Gave me a reason to get up in the morning lol and somewhere to put any slugs and worms I found. I miss them still
