Another new girl

Post by betonyjoy »

Hello all, been reading posts while waiting 'approval' and am amazed at the knowledge and diversity of useful topics amongst you all.

My reasons for prepping are more to do with economics and weather than apocalyptic scenarios, and it seems that lots of you here are the same. Prior to us moving into this house, the nearby river flooded, though luckily this house wasn't affected, but I imagine that getting out for food and other essentials would have been very difficult, if not impossible. With the current weather conditions, it's not unreasonable to assume that it could so easily happen again, possibly worse than before. And I want to be prepared! Despite my OH being dismissive of these things. Fortunately, he has no say in the matter, I've made that quite clear

Any way, love this forum, I'm off to do some more reading. :geek:

Hi and welcome.

My OH has been actively working against me in all sorts of ways for over 12 months - until last weekend - he finally got the message  - stick with it - eventually the penny will drop with him also.

You are not alone - quite a few of us have partners who are not on board

Hello and welcome to the forum. My OH just humoured me to start with but after a period of eratic employment on my side so money has been tight he has seen how useful our food preps have been (and also hes not having to nip down the local garage at 6am because we've run out of cereal/bread/milk/loo roll etc).
He now is learning old fashioned skills (using non electric tools etc) and has fully involved himself in our food growing and livestock adventures.
So there's hope for yours yet! :D
