New member from Isle of Wight

Post by Kaneda »

Hi Im from the IOW, Im interested in prepping & skills such as bushcraft and foraging. I have been storing food for a few years now (along with a load of kit like water filters etc) and I keep a grab/get home bag in my car which has proved to be so useful at times. I'm in my 40s and try to keep fit - gyms are shut but Im walking plenty & trying not to eat too much :D Im prepping for anything, most likely power cuts or more pandemics. Looking forward to getting advice in the forums.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you've already made a great start.

Can I ask, do you travel off the IoW much? If you do, does that affect your get home bag? Maybe not, I'm just interested :D

Hi, yes you're right, I do travel over to places on the 'north island' once in a while. I try to aim my get home bag towards either having to get home on foot or to be there for an emergency hospital visit etc, but its mostly based around being close to home.
If I go off the island I'm normally in my car, so I do have a lot of extra bits in my boot for longer trips and for car repairs, like I'm sure many people here do. Maybe I should consider keeping a dinghy in the car as well in case things got really bad (its quite a paddle though) ;)

North Island! I love it  And that really *would* be a paddle - good to know you've usually got extra supplies with you though, of course.
