Hello,

I have just created an account here as it is one of the few UK specific forums.

I am an Environmental Scientist currently working on one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe.

I university I specialised in drone technologies and photogrammetry for environmental monitoring.

Needless to say, during my studies I have done nothing but become more an more concerned about our ever changing climate. We are constantly facing new obstacles from temperature records, increased occurrence of wildlife, and unseasonable freak weather events.

I am not preparing for zombies or a nuclear war. I am preparing for civil unrest, economic and ecological collapse, resource wars, drought, famine, and disease.

These are all likely to occur as a result of climate change due to many industries not making efforts to keep up with the changing demands of the environment and consumers.

With the world debt pile sitting at $244 trillion in January this year (three times the size of the global economy) there isn’t enough money to solve the problems that have been created by multi-billion dollar multi-national companies.

I am unfortunately stuck in a densely populated city as I am trying to acquire enough capital to purchase a smallholding as this will hopefully be my main prep.

Thanks.

Welcome. Most of us here are sensible, mature folk looking to be more prepared and resilient given the state of the environment, the state of the global and local economies and all associated events that these things may bring. The zombie apocalypse extreme preppers tend not to stay long  Having said that, if your prepared for that then your prepared for anything ;) (plus who doesn't like a bit of sci fi fiction from time to time!)

Welcome, Harold! I think environmental issues have been almost completely ignored in prepping circles, only just surfacing these last few years. A densely populated city probably isn't the best place to live (though its great to visit) and a smallholding is the dream of many of us, but there may be an intermediate step on the way. And you have to be sure you like the life.

Hope you're finding interesting stuff on here that feels helpful.
