Low-level newbie

Hello everyone,

I'd describe myself as a fairly low-level prepper. I'm not too worried about any large-scale shtf situations but rather things like weather related issues, power cuts, illness, and the like. Recently also any financial ramifications from Brexit.

So far I've been focusing on planning and stocking my larder as well as some practical plans for the future. I've invested in some camping equipment for the family - sleeping bags, a tent, a Kelly Kettle, etc. I figure it will come in handy in case of emergencies but also as a way to have cheaper family holidays as funds are limited. In fact many of my preps are about being organised and frugal more than anything else if I'm being completely honest, as to me that is what preparedness is mainly about.

I've a lot to learn, I know, which is why I wanted to join. I'm looking very much forward to the inspiration and practical insight into prepping this place offers.

Welcome to the forum, a lot of us prep for similar reasons, I wouldn't worry about your reasons for prepping, you prep therefore you're are (a prepper). ;)

Have a nose around the various threads and see what catches your eye, figure out what you think you'll need in your preps. I learned loads when I joined the forum and don't by afraid to ask questions.

Hello!

A new member describing themselves as a low-level newbie? I think you may be my friend from another site?

I'm ordering a dehydrator this weekend. I'm very excited!

Welcome to the site, it's really lovely here.

Forgot to add:

There is a post on the Food, Nutrition and Agriculture board called "What are you dehydrating?" - it's 50 pages long so loads of ideas there for us when our ones arrive!

Thanks for the welcome :)

DoctorMeot Thanks again for the recommendation of this site. I'll have a look at the dehydrator discussion, it sounds interesting.

Hello.

I read somewhere on here that you should devote time/money to prepping for an event in similar proportion to the likelihood of the event occurring; the most likely event is a short term difficulty in obtaining food and household goods for various reasons (weather, strikes, illness) so devote most time/effort to that.

Unless you're American in which case, buy more guns.

korolev That's really interesting, but it makes perfect sense and thankfully means that I'm not doing too badly :)

Not American so not a gun in sight anywhere :D
