Hello

Post by Mick104 »

Hi all, I live on the west coast of Ireland, retired Nurseryman I have a large veg plot with 20 x 40 ft Poly tunnel .
I would like to become as self sufficient as possible in the shortest possible time .
I expect there are some old hands here for guidance when needed .

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you already have a lot of skills, and really good setup too. Hope Storm Emma hasn't affected you too much.

West coast of Ireland .... only been there once, I have such a vivid memory of the wild fuschia hedges.

Storm Emma, for a day or two I thought we were back in the great famine of the 1850s.
We got about a foot of snow over two days, we are not used to snow we have not had snow like this for over 30 yrs. The country came to a stand still every thing shut down, by day two the supermarkets were out of bread, milk veg and fresh meat with no deliveries expected .
The average family here would be in serious difficultly within a week if we had even a minor catastrophe.

Welcome. If you are a retired Nurseryman,I reckon you may teach us a thing or two!
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.
