Old Newbie Suffolk / Essex Border

Post by Pagan »

I am new to this site but not new to prepping.
I love doing courses and learning as many old skills as I can.
I will be happy to hear from any one with information or questions.

Welcome. What situations do you prep for?
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

Hi, I prep for any eventuality that might crop up, like when the several fault lines just off the east coast decide to move again. When in Grimsby my wife and I were woken in the middle of the night by an earthquake, ok only a comparatively small one, but you never know what is round the corner.

Just a thought: Why do you think that consecutive governments have removed the people's ability to forcefully object to more and more removal of our rights in the name of securit?

Hi Pagan,

What made you go to Grimsby? Checking out potential "Bug-Out" locations ;)

Im a bit further East than you, up towards Ipswich.

"consecutive governments have removed the people's ability to forcefully object to more and more removal of our rights in the name of securit?"

Govt will always want to remove the publics rights, it keep us all under control. (Except for us preppers that is)

Keep prepping mate.

Hi,
I moved to Grimsby for good reasons, but it was a disaster, and not one you can prep for. I now live in East Bergholt.

Regards

Neville

No you are not wrong Pagan, I kind of noted your tag as well.

I'm not connected to the order, other than through the website and email updates etc. Im connected in spirit though and adopted the Arwen tag after many years of poetry and song writing, story telling and general funloving-skull-dugery-mischeif-causing.........

Kindred spirits?

Namaste.

What prepping do you do? I did survival training in the forced and try to do a variety of courses that would be most useful after SHTF, e.g. first aid, wood carving, flint knapping, etc. Personally I would prefer to bug in rather than bug out.
Did you say you live in Ipswich?

Yeah, we are close to Ipswich near Woodbridge.

Our preps have concentrated on the essentials: food, shelter and safety in many forms. High security home and perimiters with escape options and back ups.

Been involved in home growing for a few years (permaculture) and also food preservation techniques. Pretty well skilled now in carpentry (both hand tools and power) and electrical maintenance, also a dab hand at plumbing. If I say so myself im a pretty good all round quality "BODGER" but def need to improve my vehicle repair skills though.

Currently we are learning more about Triage and emergency health care in general and personal fitness / endurance are our main focus through until the spring.

Getting reasonable now in hand to hand self defence (Bartitsu) but more practice needed as always. We both shoot very well. (Truth is shes better than me)

Really want to build up our community resilience but "coming out" to the neighbours and friends needs to be very carefully prepared and executed.

What about you?
