Newbie
Newbie
Hi to you all. My name is Robert (although most the time being called Rob ). I’m 37 YO from Poland, living in UK for last 10 years. Currently working as an IT application specialist for one of the UK supermarket chain. I have always been attracted to the survival and ever since I started to dig more and read more about preppering I started to sink in to the subject even more. This is all new to me and would like to learn and expand my knowledge in the subject. Hopefully with your help I will succeed.
Re: Newbie

Re: Newbie
Welcome to the forum Rob, have a good look around and see what catches your eye. What kind of things are you prepping for ?
Re: Newbie
Hi Rob, welcome to the forum - hope you find the kind of stuff that interests you on here. As you participate more and more, by the way, other people already on here will be more willing to meet you - meets don't happen right away.
Like Deeps, I'm interested in what you're prepping for, and also wondering if you have any views on the dangers of cyberattacks, as you're an IT person?

Re: Newbie
Maybe I'm a bit naive but trying to be reasonable in the same time. Zombi outbreak is very unlikely but not saying it can’t happened. We've seen viruses outbreaks in the past and it is happening now(Ebola). I can’t afford to build an atomic shelter so if SHTF I’m screwed anyway . However different outbreaks are possible. Terrorism is a fact and sooner or later it can happen that biological or chemical attackwill happen. Climate is changing so floods and harsh winters are more common than i.e. 20 years ago. We rely too much on technology and last attack on NHS has proven that in fact we are more vulnerable than ever before. We’ve lost our natural instincts, we’ve become lazy. We’ve got used to that easy life – most thinking that nothing bad can happen but look what’s happening in Venezuela? This can happen any ware in the world. This is what I will try to prepare for.Deeps wrote:Welcome to the forum Rob, have a good look around and see what catches your eye. What kind of things are you prepping for ?

Zombi outbreak is very unlikely but not saying it can’t happened as we never know what sort of viruses are being prepared in labs (swine flu, ebola) and how it could effect us. Food and/or water shortage can happen in here for many reasons. This can happen any ware in the world.Arzosah wrote:Hi Rob, welcome to the forum - hope you find the kind of stuff that interests you on here. As to your question on cyber attacks: this is the world we're living today and technology is all around us Wherever we like it or not. We’re trusting our governments that we are cyber-safe but this is an illusion. Teenager hacked into the Pentagon, latest NHS attack and many more. You think banks are on the top of their game? This one day may collapse like a house of cards and most of us (society) will go down with it.This is what I will try to prepare for.
Re: Newbie
Fair one mate, I don't disagree with much of that, personally I'm more 'Venezuela' than zombie but as you say, not impossible I suppose (and make good TV). There's loads of info on here so have a look through some of the old threads and don't be shy, if you have a question, ask away.robmalina wrote:Zombi outbreak is very unlikely but not saying it can’t happened as we never know what sort of viruses are being prepared in labs (swine flu, ebola) and how it could effect us.
