Not sure if anyone has had this idea....... Ive got to give this credit to my father as it was him that started with the concept and between him we kept adding to it till it would just close with some careful packing.....

in a basic shtf situation we have some basic preps all together in a shower proof box even if the house is in bits we will have something to go to


anyhow... the box

I see two different gas cartridges there, does the lantern use the old pierce ones and the stove the resealables ?

Also, remember to rotate the bleach as the liquid stuff breaks down over time (becoming less effective)

Yes the stove in the box uses resealable cartridges... and the lantern uses pierce type...

(not that its a major issue got a mix of stoves and lanterns in the shed (lantern is stored without gas in it no chance of it leaking and becoming a hazard) try not to keep too many flammables in the house for obvious safety reasons

But if someone only has one stove and one lantern its better for them both to use the same kind of cans...... I've gone for the shotgun approch and have at least one stove for each of the common disposible cartridges, that way no matter what is available I'll have something it fits in.


My Dyslexia kicks in like that sometimes, for me its a minor niggle rather then a disablity

Had that stove since i did the duke of Edinburgh they didnt like the one shot cartridges for some reason.... I had one go on cross threaded i took the safe precaution of walking off the campsite and lobbing it into a field across the road... ( when i picked it up a day later there was still some liquid gas in it so it was left there when i went home ((sorry farmer i did try))

cant beat the coleman petrol stove IMO but no way am i storing that in the house full of petrol


Way i look at it every aerosol can is full of butane anyway but its sensible to keep a bare minimum in a dwelling (god knows what you do if you live in a flat)
