Boston Baked Bean Pasta thing!

Post by Maddie_cat »

I can't go shopping at the mo so am relying on stores (see viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4496&p=50480#p50480 for details)

Prepared a casserole-thingy the other night and am posting the recipe:

Ingredients:

one cup TVP soaked in 1 cup stock
1 tin fried onions
1 tin chopped toms
1 tin baked beans
4oz dried pasta
1/2 pt veg stock
2 tbspn each tomato puree, BBQ sauce (or 1 tspn liquid smoke)

Method

If you are cooking on a hob, bung the whole lot in a pan, bring to boil then reduce to a simmer and cook for 40-45 mins until the pasta is cooked

If cooking in a casserole, bung the whole lot in a casserole dish and cook at about 150c for 70 mins

If cooking in a Dutch oven, bung it in, light it up and it is ready when the pasta is done :D

If you have fresh stuff, you can swap the TVP for minced beef and the tinned fried onions for a couple of fresh ones. Very easy to make and quite a "sweet" dish that the kids will probably enjoy.

It is great stuff. I tend to make a BBQ sauce with the liquid smoke and marinate stuff in it then grill it - tastes like it is just off the barbecue! Got mine off of Amazon
