Worm omelette

Post by Jarhead55 »

Dig about 1lb of worms.
Place in bucket and leave for 24 hrs.( cover over with cloth to deter Seagulls etc)
Whilst waiting :
Beg/borrow or barter eggs. (remember chickens have several eggs forming in the Oviduct)
Fashion a hobo stove. ( if you don't know how, I will post this essential activity later.)
Make wooden spoon.
Metal hub cap for frying.
Collect firemaking materials for Hobo stove.
After 24 hrs :
Take out dead/listless worms and throw away.
Pinch and squeeze lively worms from head to tail to remove faeces.
Wash any soil/ faeces off.
Make omelette mixture from worms and eggs.
Fry Omelette in fat from chicken.
Bon appetite ! Plenty of protein
If you live close to the sea use shellfish, remember to leave mussels for 24 hours discarding any that are open.

Oh you suburbanites.

To be honest, if I'm down to that level of scran then I'll not need any recipe tips, if I've eggs and worms/insects etc I'd probably trough the worms and insects and then use the scrambled eggs to get rid of the taste of the beasties. I'm unlikely to be reduced to this any time soon, that's why I prep but hey, who knows.

Or...worm and fishing hook ,equals fish,no problem. To paraphrase Jim Royle;"Worm omelette,my arse!"

I'd rather eat snails than worms - the worms are good for the vegetable plot unlike snails!

Fry Omelette in fat from chicken.
Not sure post apocolypse Lipo suction will be an option but a living chicken would be more use

What we really need is a recipe for slugs, every time I move something in the garden or it's rained huge ones are everywhere!
Maybe a chicken would eat the slugs?
