MOD Survival knife sheath mods

Post by Smudge »

Inspired by Wessexblade on Youtube I fixed a new securing strap and a loop for a ferro rod:

Im pretty confussed about these knives, where did you get yours?

ive seen them for sale and as I was at War and Peace this year I thought I would look out for one, but every vendor I asked said the same thing, "they dont exist and as they have never been taken into combat, nobody here will have the ones you are told do"?

So are they a real MOD/NATO item?

nice bit of kit though, like what you have done.

Hi Munch This is a survival Knife so not issued to everyone. Have found it listed here:

http://www.iso-parts.com/Public/Search_ ... 9-127-8214

and here

http://www.nsncenter.co.uk/NSNSearch?q=4240-99-127-8214

The markings conform to the MOD markings.

So I would say it is genuine Military Issue.

The knock off's don't have the NSN, as for the quality of the knock off, I have no idea. Mine had the NSN was an OK knife and a fun project for the few little mods I did, I sold it at a carboot sale not long after posting OP.

I bought one out of curiosity and it has no MOD markings and appears to be a copy. No Makers markings. Seems well made and finished to me (I am not without some experience of knives having trained as a butcher back in the day).
