I noticed somewhere that you have an old van parked up?

I know a fella who uses an old Escort as a greenhouse....

I do like that idea Eddie but alas the van is an LDV pilot panel van so no good as a greenhouse ( besides which I've got two out the back) but it is currently doing sterling work as a shed :)

To bump this thread with an update.
Well I went ahead with the potatoe planting and have lifted the last ones this weekend. I couldn't plant too deeply owing to tree roots some of which belong to the almond tree. This did make them very easy to dig up , not quite no dig but the soil was fairly loose. Crop was decent and I grew mainly Arron pilot and a few marries pipers.
I can report no problems with any growing legs or for that matter no problems with the other crops in the front garden. These included the almonds already mentioned , herbs , chard ,strawberries and Jerusalem artichokes . A friend of my wife wasn't impressed with the idea of potatoes in the front garden but that was about the only negative comment , most others if they said anything was more inclined to believe us a tiny bit eccentric .
So I'm clocking this one down as a little victory , no thefts , problems and something to fill our bellies. Next year I'm going to do the same but am planning on putting in a "hedge" of quince bushes adjacent to the path.
Oh and just one other little update the old van is finally gone :D
