Airtight food containers

Post by Conholio »

Could anyone recommend good quality strong airtight food containers for flour rice pasta etc. We are trying to build up a stock of staple items and want storage for up to 18 months. We will use and buy stocks of basics in rotation.

Big Kilner jars, you can quite often find them in charity shops because 'farmhouse' is now going out of fashion. Also check the places like B&M and the Range when they switch seasons as they can mark them down to stupid cheap.

For larger bulk containers look for plastic buckets with lids, my local bakery gets pie fillings and frosting delivered in them. They sell the empties cheap and I'm sure that other places will too.
