When my neighbour finally decided to clear out her chicken runs that had been neglected for a couple of years we were rat infested for a couple of weeks. They came in 3 waves. So desperate for food that they were out during the day. I used £60.00 of poison, shot 40+ and trapped 18. I think the rest dispersed looking for food etc and for peace as my dogs were relentless in their quest to kill.
Rats are an ongoing problem rather than a one off but sometimes will hyperbreed if cirmumstances prevail.
Peanut butter is good for making them targets for an air rifle as they can't sneak the food away and works in back breaking traps.
You know they're taking the poison when their blood explodes when they are shot.
