Seed saving

Post by jansman »

Its that time of year, and I am processing veg for seeds ( like one or two others here!) Right now its tomatoes. One variety I prize is an outdoor one,Marmande.I got one tomato from Toni ,an Italian gardener, who brought it to England in the fifties, and I have grown it on since the mid nineties.

Here is a nice link to tomato seed saving, and its the way I do it too. There are links for other vegetables. I hope it is useful to someone.

Have to say, I'm looking forward to starting seed saving over again. It's just beans this year, I'll be leaving a couple of the Parsnips in the ground to go to seed next year as they have performed fantastically.

Not my 'part of ship' but when I saw the thread and asked Her Maj if it was something she would be interested in, she said she was already doing it. I know she's got a load of seeds and stuff so I'm not surprised.
