Still in the early stages of prepping & going shopping this weekend. Among other things I was to start stocking up on oil.
We mostly use olive oil & when I first started taking notice of expiry dates recently (from a prepping POV) I looked at the oil at our local Tesco & noticed that their Olive Oil had a BBE date of April 2018, so around 11 months or so at time of looking. Is this part for the course of olive oil or should I be looking out for better dates? Searching the subject indicates that unopened olive oil stored sensibly could last 2-3 years, is this ignoring the (guidance only) BBE dates or is that what I should be seeing on BBE dates if a store has sensible stocks?
Olive oil shelf life
Re: Olive oil shelf life
From memory I think 2 years is about right, could be wrong though
on the subject of oil ...... mineral oil is great for preserving fresh eggs .... up to 9 months in the cupboard and 12 months in fridge
