Just used my soya milk maker to make brown lentil milk as an experiment and to make a "gravy" for my steamed veg dinner.
By way of an experiment I drank a glass of the end result.
It was warming and tasted like a bovril type drink, but not so strong, with a kind of nutty finish.
If I had added stock, salt and spices it would have made a perfect winter warmer.
Ain't the kinda thing to add to your tea or to pour over your cereal, but as a stand alone warming drink it was a star.
I pre soaked my brown lentils for 5 hours prior to making it. Maybe it would have gone down better if I had soaked them longer.
You could also just do the same with a scoop of cooked brown lentils in a blender with some water and then filter the liquid through a nut milk making bag or fine cheesecloth prior to reheating it to make it warming.
If it snows this winter, it may well be the kind of thing I would want to come back home to after being out in the cold.
