CHIRP is a free, open-source tool for programming your amateur radio. It supports a large number of manufacturers and models, as well as provides a way to interface with multiple data sources and formats.

As the number of people with capable radios seems to be growing :)

Can everyone take time to listen out on one-seven-two MHz in their local area over the next few weeks please?

This is one of the frequencies that can be allocated on a temporary basis, so it may prove to be a good one for RVs and the like. But it is also has potential if the SHTF as a general calling channel for us. But first, it is worth finding out if it especially busy anywhere.

Please do not transmit on this at the moment, this is just an exercise in seeing if the frequency is a busy one. Thanks :geek:

As and when you can really, working hours are probably the most likely to be busy but also if there is a festival or other event going on locally then they may well use it.

I can't remember the frequencies the Goose Fair use, but that is the sort of thing.

Currently listening, absolutely nothing on that as yet but I'll continue to monitor and roam around the area a bit for the next few weeks.

I got a burst of some traffic on that freq 2 nights ago but couldn't make it probably too far away out only about a 20/30 sec transmit
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

baofeng uv5r only run on chargeable and dont runon double a's etc they are good but there is no difference between uv5r uv5ra etc its the same radio with different colours etc
