Devonian emp and lightening strikes are totally different. As to the Car being a Faraday cage well if you earthed it to a copper earth rod and removed the aerial it might be. Faraday cages must be grounded.

I appreciate that an EMP and Lightening strike are different beasts, BUT, a lightning strikes can/do generate an EMP in the immediate area, but it does not travel in the same way as that from say a solar flare or nuclear detonation.
