Geocaching map

Post by Le Mouse »

I found a geocaching map yesterday. It has loads of different map options (go to the layered paper symbol in the top right of the map), my favourite being Esri WorldImagery because it seems to be more up-to-date than the Satellite option on Google Maps. Also footpaths seem to be more detailed on most of the maps.

Had to google what geocaching was  but in my case you're dead right about the up to dateness. There were houses near me that were knocked down and replaced - and although the google date on their satellite imagery says 2013, the pic is from 5 years ago. The geocaching site shows the building site that it was 12 - 18 month ago. Good find!

Yep. On google maps, my 5 year old bungalow doesn't exist. On Esri WorldImagery, it's there!

My word!

The footpaths thing is good too - they're visible even at really high magnification.
