The fact that there had been no new antibiotics since the 80s seems like an awful long time for the bugs to build their resistance. From what has come to light today it seems that overuse of antibiotics in animals farmed for food is a serious contributor to the problem.
Just got the news through that I got my transfer to pharmacology. I saw this on the BBC but to be honest we've got exams just now so I ducked posting for revising.
If I find out anything useful, I'll post or upload anything I come across if it hasn't been covered. Though from the posts that are coming up I've been beaten to it on most things.
Plan for the worst......but enjoy every minute of it.
I kind of tow the same line as David Attenborough, that there are far to many people in this world. The global population has tripled since he was a young man. Food and energy are two massive concerns going forward, as beside them being a huge issue, they also lead to political and civil unrest when they aren't really available.
I think a post antibiotic world will be a better place in the long term.
