Herbs & Spices for Health

Post by diamond lil »

I'm looking more into herbs and spices now, living for 15 years with ME has got rid of all my fond notions that medicine fixes our ailments  . Would anybody know a good sane site on this? I read in a diabetic forum about taking cinnamon for blood sugar control, put my diabetic hubby on the stuff, and he's had very very good results with it - so I wanted to look deeper into it for my ME. Any suggestions welcome

You have raised a good topic there diamond lil. My dear Wife suffers from IBS and finds mint tea to be good for her complaint. Just like you, she finds natural remedies as good , if not better, than 'normal' medications. I am looking at planting a small herbal garden.

I will see what websites are out there and let you know. I think self help is going to be the way to go looking at how long it takes to see the doctor! :D

Thanks Jansman. The docs up here are ok, I can get an appoinment any day I need one and the local hosp is quietish - but if it's not a plain & simple in-the-book illness then you end up with a totally disinterested face over the desk in the surgery. And the NHS isn't getting any better so maybe time to do some digging into what was used in the past. I'll go and have a look at that site ta

Lil, Botanical is very good http://botanical.com/

WebMD often lists herbs and plants: http://www.webmd.com/default.htm this is their article on rose hips: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-and-suppl ... -and-risks

Looking at Plants for a Future will also help, but they simply report everything, so a bit more research needed. This is their page on common rosemary: http://www.pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?Lat ... fficinalis

Hope this helps.
