Outside toilet
Outside toilet
Our drum is about 120 years old.We have numerous outbuildings, amongst which is the outside toilet( and it is used). In this week of extreme cold I put a paraffin hurricane lamp in there to stop pipes from freezing.Always done it.Does anyone else?

Re: Outside toilet
When we had an outside loo as a child thats what my parents used to do, raised the temp just enough to keep it safe from freezing the pipes.
Re: Outside toilet
If we had an outside loo, yes I would. Our downstairs toilet gets cold so I will keep an eye on it, and if I feel it needs it, I do have hurricane lamps and paraffin available.

Re: Outside toilet
A large part of my emergency food supplies are in a small brick outbuilding near the house. This time of year I keep a paraffin greenhouse heater burning in there in an attempt to stop the temperature dropping below 40ºF. Normally one wick alight is sufficient. At the moment though all four wicks are alight and it's still only just coping!
