I dont know how things stand now but the wild camping thing in Scotland is a strange one- back in the 80s it was OK to camp where you ended up, more or less, but trespass was a criminal offence in Scotland and only a civil matter in England. Now trespass is a criminal offence everywhere in the uk (?) I dont know how that stands.

I do know that when I went camping in glencoe in september, decades ago with a 1950s canvas tent some poor Light Infantry bods were testing the Gore-Tex that was planned to go into the Soldier 95 issue kit. It rained. A lot. My old canvas tent floated, they bugged out and went home.
