Dear all,

for a bit of 'light' reading can i suggest the Death of Grass by John Christopher.

For me,it is a story second only to Day Of The Triffids.

Rather apt too, given the poor veg crops!

I second (or third) that suggestion - only read it for the first time last year and enjoyed it. Considering the book was written in the 50's its fascinating how accurate I still think most of it is, especially in the current climate re crops etc.

It certainly isn't a particularly cheery read though - however, if the world goes to hell in a hand basket I doubt life would be ;)

Day of the Triffids is my favourite since we read it at school back in the 70s. Our English teacher recommended Death of Grass which I recently re-read. Another of John Christopher's books : A Wrinkle in the Skin I also like. Death of Grass in particular shows how quickly society falls apart.
