Best couple of prepping books

Post by kernewek »

I've always been into outdoor stuff so I've got plenty of books by the likes of Ray Mears, Lofty Wiseman etc. What I'm after is a recommendation for a couple of prepping books aimed at the relative beginner to the subject who doesn't do too much more than stock a few extra supplies at the moment.

If I could suggest one book only it would be 'When All Hell Breaks Loose' by Cody Lundin. Sure, it is American, but it is no frills and straight to the point. It is not all about tons of gear etc. That is his second book. He has a first, ' 98.6 Degrees, The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive'. This one details his survival kit. It certainly made me realise what junk I was hauling around in my car etc !

Then there is 'The Modern Survival Manual- surviving the economic collapse' by Ferfal Aguerre. I will clarify that name. This details the Argentinian economic crash in 2001. Again it is Amero - Centric, but it is real world stuff.

Just my opinion though
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Fernando Aguirre is the author. Scoobie has a thread about that very book in this section.

If you're on a limited budget as many starting prep folks are, download the Doom Guide or order a bound copy from the author

http://www.doomguide.com/

It has enough basic information to get you started and then you can take your planning from there in whatever direction it takes you

Much of the stuff you will find in books is readily available free of charge online, funnily enough in places just like this as well as several free PDF download sites ( http://armageddononline.org/survival-pdf-files/ )

Stocking up on a few extra supplies is an excellent start, from there you need to decide what you're actually "prepping" for from there your journey expands. Many of us who have been "prepping" have gone through various changes in our "prepping".

Books are set around the authors personal opinions/worries nothing more, there would be little point in buying ferfals book if you're worried about a super bug as I belief he focuses on economic concerns (at least his original blog did).

Mostly "prepping" is common sense unless you need specific specialist information such as medical, coms, NBC, financial etc.
If at first you don't succeed, excessive force is usually the answer.
