Wonderpedia "Blackout"

Post by Mad Scientist »

Recently started reading "Wonderpedia" and this month was a good article called "blackout". I know it's preaching to the converted but it does drive home what we rely on. I was so shocked that "most City dwellers" have only about 4 days of food and even emergency generators would only last about 48 hours because the refuelling vehicles would be stuck in stranded traffic etc. There are cyber attacks on our electricity supplies every day ....and a few succeed. I'm glad of our gas powered kitchen and our little whistling kettle to name but a few things!

And of course, once the gas goes off, it will be off for a long time. That is because the pipes will have to be re pressurised and EVERY building inspected individually for appliances still switched on. This is to avoid leaks and explosions.
