Crutch Modifications - Serious Request.

Post by CardiffGuy »

Evening All.

After being on crutches for a few months due to an previous knee injury that got agitated to the point I now require surgery on it, this weather doesn't help mobility and is a pain where I walk as I need to avoid the crutches from going from underneath me and me ending up like Bambi on ice.

As the crutches are well an important bit of equipment for me at the moment, I though I would post this in the appropriate section.

Does anyone know of any simple modifications I could do to the crutches to : -

a) Get better grip for the rubber things on the bottom.
b) Cosmetically adapting the handles so that I can get a firm grip without continuously ending up with blisters or hands slipping off and nearly chinning the plastic supports that go around the forearm.

Any recommendations would be appreciated hugely(seeing as well NHS waiting lists are not the quickest for handing out appointments/surgery dates.).

Many Thanks NR.

Will try out those recommendations when I can grab some wood.
