Battery bank power box with solar

So iv watched too many videos on these and am going to give it a bash.

I have a few ammo cans laying around, various projects and storage, and one of them is going to be donated for an ammo can battery bank, and I'll be putting a solar on there too (separate solar panel).

I have found a 50w solar panel with 2xusb solar charge controller rated at 30w, and would like a minimum of 20,000mah battery (so assume that's 20ah ) but what battery do I go for and would this work?

I'd be able to charge it in the car on route via a boot cigarette lighter and at home/work via mains

I'll take some pics and start a project log too

First what are you wanting it for....

When you say 20ah how have you worked out that capacity?

What battery tech are you looking at?

A 50w charger will just give you some standby resilient for summer for winter it will struggle in the UK...

Car charging depends on your car and battery (newer smart regenerative braking alternators cause issues with voltage sensing split charge relays

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve, I've got a number of power banks and a couple of camping solar panels. Are you looking for something 'beefier' than the output you'd get from the power banks ??? I've got the makings of a solar set up for a shed that I've dragged arse setting up, that should kick out more wigglies but its a heavier set up. What is it you're looking for, is it a portable set up and if so, how transportable. Just being nosey really, what are you looking to power ???

I have a few power banks, some 5,000mah and 10,000 mah so normally use those if out and about as there small and light.

I sometimes venture out for a 2-3 day away trip, and am looking for something a little 'beefier' to possibly charge a phone or 2, tablet and radio, and possibly some led lighting.

The ammo can I have is a .50cal, so that's very portable, although I realise it may be a little heavy.

Ideally I'm looking for a small base camp battery solution, that can be trickle charged during the day via the solar that gives me enough to charge the gadgets, whether that's via the battery in the evening or solar in the day.

Look at the jump starter packs

Have a look at the camping solar panels mate. Some fold down fairly small but still kick out a fair whack in the right weather conditions. Slip down the side of a rucksack easy too. :D

Thanks all- some food for thought there, although dont quote me on this but I have heared some people complain that the portable solar panels dont charge the portable battery banks to a full capacity? That's why I was told to look at the solar split chargers and a 12v battery setup?

If I am wrong and someone knows of a portable panel that would kick out enough to charge a higher capacity battery bank (anker 20,000mah).

I have a 20,000 mah anker battery, a 10,000mah battery and 2x 4,000, the smaller ones are normally only used for usb lights, I use the 20,000 for my xtar vc4 charger via usb for my batteries (18650 torch AA and AAA) and for my radio that would be needed to be charged?
