Front/chest mounted bag?

Post by sniper 55 »

I wear a backpack a lot but sadly it's mostly full of work related gear, I have seen a front mounted pouch that clipped on to front of backpack straps (think old style reserve parachute look) I've actually seen one somewhere, the guy had his easy to reach kit in it and if I remember a pistol slot in the back for a firearm.
Ok I don't need the firearm part but I could use a decent size front pouch for stuff like gloves, hat, phone, waterbottle, again reserve parachute or maybe a bit smaller size.
Anybody know of one, dammed if I can find the one I saw, wish I'd made a note of the name now.
(I'm not after a cross strap one, I'd like to be able to clip it my backpack straps)
Thanks.

Mind you, a couple of 58 pattern clips you can mod your own:

Fits whatever pouch you want then:

Pretty sure you've nailed it with the hill gear pack, that looks exactly like the one I saw before. :)
That said the sugpak in the pics looks good and costs a LOT less. And I've got a full set of 58 webbing plus a few pouches kicking around in the spare room if I need the clips.
Many thanks mate.

In the pics, I've strapped the clips on.

I now dremmel the centre of the clip and slip that over the rucksack strap.

I've gone for the snugpak mate, and I've got a dremmel somewhere, so thats a project for the weekend. I liked the hill gear pouch but I'd have to go into hiding if I spent that much and Mrs S found out... and she will, she always does. :)

Nice one. :)

Just measured mine:

1/2 a cm dremmeled out in the centre worked for me.

Thanks for that mate, I was going to ask if you had a shot, but you beat me to it.
As soon as I get the bag I can start playing, I've dug out the webbing so thats sorted, I know where the dremmel is so I'm good to go. Hopefully the bag will be here by wednesday, but I don't know if the weather will affect that.
It's good here but some places had a fair bit of snow I'm told.
Thanks again. :)

The other alternative is an army chest rig - different colours including plain green or black. Numerous makes out there from Miltec to Arktis or there are civvy rigs but they are more expensive.

I did look at that idea, and a molle vest or plate carrier with pouches, but the issue for me is they look a bit a suicide bombers sunday best, ok we all know what they are but my locals wont, and I have my doubts about my local police ;) I don't want to end up being a figure 11 for someone.
The bag I ordered should look reasonable harmless... I hope... :)
