Got a fire extinguisher?

One way and another,my life is non stop aggravation! This morning I was in the yard sawing logs and I could smell acrid smoke from the street at the side of the house.I thought it was my neighbour burning crap again. Then my Wife shouted from the backdoor,"move your car,the one next to it is on fire!".I grabbed the 2 kg powder extinguisher from the workshop, and another from the kitchen.
Sure enough there was a car on fire, next to mine! I moved it pronto ( no damage) and Ian,whose house the burner was outside, was hosing the bonnet to cool it,as his windows were at risk of going in with the heat, along with his van too! Mrs J came round with another extinguisher and I dumped all three under the bonnet. It did the job well, especially as the car was really going up.At that point ,the Fire Brigade arrived and all was well.
I had only been considering renewing the extinguishers last week,so this made the decision for me.I replaced them inside an hour ( when youngest heard of the drama, she was worried we had no fire protection),as it is Murphy's Law that we would need them if we did not have them!
Anyhow,if you ain't got at least one fire extinguisher, then get one.I picked mine up from Screwfix for £27 each, but you can get 1 kg ones for £15,and cheaper still on e bay.No excuses.https://www.screwfix.com/c/safety-workw ... /cat850352
