Advice needed please.

Post by ChefSimon »

I am after some advice regarding the selling of excess kit.

Obviously there is eBay, but I would like to know if there are any other places that people have sold/bought equipment from?

I use eBay a lot but some of my kit I am selling is a little more specialist to Preppers/survivalists so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've been very careful not to mention what I'm selling as I don't want this post to sound like a shameless plug & get in trouble with the sites rules.

Thanks in advance.

It's a pity we don't have a for sale section, lots of forums do, tha way stuff says in the forum community so to speak.

The more restrictions and prohibitions there are, the poorer the people will be.

We've been asked about this many times. Unfortunately it's a minefield of uncertainty that just isn't worth the effort or hassle. So as Jansman said, you are welcome to pm each other and do a private deal. The usual UKP will not be held liable in any way applies. :)

The bushcraft site above requires you to be a form of fully paid up member to sell. Even though I have an account on the forum I cannot sell as I've not donated something to something.

Wondering if it is a good idea and ask them how do they get around the legalities?

Again it is via PMing. You advertise, a forum member PMs you, you respond to PM and then declare the item sold. Yes it is very gentlemans rules/conduct I guess. Never heard or seen of any bounders and miscreants.

Only other thing I think that would need "extra" service is if certain items or types were banned from being advertised. Mod(s) would have to be quick on the ball to remove the post and chastise the poster accordingly.

And that last paragraph sums up the reason why we don't have a ' for sale' section.
