I was thinking about getting a water butt and installing it on the drain pipe from my garage and house, then using the water in the garden over the summer.

The amount it rains here **raining as I type", I can't see water supply being an issue in the near future, but goodness knows what the long term holds.

2 water butts and a few 25L drums would be suffice I think, then a way to boil and filter the water to make it safe for drinking would be next.

I would just plan on collecting the water from my rain water store, filter it through a coffee filter, then boil it.
