Folding locking knife suggestions 4-5"

Post by preparedsurrey »

Does anybody have any suggestions for a knife as per title, 100% needs to fold and lock, not worried about legality side as it's for work so have a reason to carry if it's with me.
Most of the ones I've seen seem to be around 3".
Rugged and capable of being abused on a daily basis.
Thank you

Folding and locking eh.. a bewildering array from my buddies in the town http://www.pullthetrigger.co.uk/epages/ ... Specialist

Go to each type individually and you will no doubt find something that fits the bill, well either that or you you'll be struggling to choose
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Mmmmm over 4" folders seem a bit thin on the ground , These are pretty good https://www.fasttech.com/category/1901/ ... ords=105mm

Will keep looking..............

Whats your price range...

Would recomend this every day , beast of a knife ....just a bit smaller than you wanted £12 delivered https://www.fasttech.com/products/1901/10001880/1724208

Lol just bought one myself......

If legality is not a problem why not get a fixed blade ?

The more expensive Ganzo copies of Spyderco lockback folders on Gearbest and Fast-Tech are not terrible, dont know how they would last for work. CRKT do some surprisingly decent folders for not a lot but I'd want to check the blade wiggle as their QC can be a bit variable.

Myself, I carry a thai "Hexing 2000" copy of a classic clip point, redwood handled lockback Buck. A friend brought it back as a gift over 15 years ago, I accepted in with good will,as one should...fully expecting it to be shite.

So far it coped with 10 years of hill farming, then river keeping and guiding and use round a the workshop, freeing MIG wire, etc and is still in fine form. Just shows, good knifes can be had for less, as I am finding out regarding Mora.

Do let us know how you get on, you might stumble upon a real gem...good luck buddy ! ;)

A #10 is about a four inch blade

That buck is pretty much what my Thai special is a knock off, of. Not my favourite design but its taken all I could throw at it, its a time honoured classic. Apparently. :? ;)

Thank you for all the suggestions, will find a minute and go through them all soon.
Not keen on a fixed blade, no particular reason I've just never carried one on site - a new folding one will live happily in a pocket without me having to think about it.
