Post by bettersafethansorry »

ok so last time i went out the country was 2003 to USA, now i have a prague stag do coming up and as much as i wanna concentrate on the "cheap ale" and "naked ladies" I cant suppress the prepper in me.

How can one prep going away obviously with airport restriction my trusty multi tool and other accessories cannot come with me..... Is there anyway to prep for if TSHTF when away like this ???

Yes, a mult-tool is fine in your hold luggage. You may come a cropper though if you're carrying it with you while clearly out socialising. I've not done it with mine, but some multi-tools can be opened up and the blade removed.

I'd carry in my hand luggage a small first aid kit, ibuprofen would be a must**

You probably already have a list of items in your EDC/GHB so I'll just mention some additional items that I'd be taking.

An empty water container and some emergency food in your hold luggage would be a good idea. Photocopy of your passport and DL. Write down your credit card number and the phone number for lost and stolen cards. Cheap back up pay as you go mobile phone perhaps with emergency numbers already on speed dial. Print out a city map and mark key points to regroup in emergencies. Also check on the routes to and from your hotel to stations, airport, hospitals, bridges, police stations, etc, etc. Make a note of the location and phone number of the UK consulate/embassy whichever one it is.

Also, if you're intent on rubbing up against the 'naked ladies' dare I suggest some anti-biotics - Fish Pen Plus perhaps... :-)
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.

a length of lamp wick in case you need to make an oil lamp. Mail some dehydrated foods to the location that you are going to before the flight. pack sensible clothes maybe?

I used to tour the Czech Replublic quite often with my Brass Band and I have bought numerous knives back with me that I actually bought from the market square in Prague so I am unsure how that has never been an issue with me through customs. mmmmm However in the Sqaure in Prague there is a gun and survival shop that sell all sorts of useful stuff and pretty cheap to

We're going away soon too and whilist I'm not concerned with taking multitools or knives as if anything happened I reckon I'd source something over there by one way or another my wife has given thought to it albeit on a smaller scale.
She was packing the cases and has put in some bits and pieces of first aid and a small amount of food. However , one thing she has done is to spread everything around our suitcases, and this includes clothes as well i.e. clothes for all of us in each case because " one case might get lost" . Sounds simple and now I think about it obvious really but that simple expedia hadn't occurred to me

Prague is not a problem, but please check what things your destination doesn't like brought in

Australia and New Zealand (for example) don't like food, plant products and muddy boots (to name but a few)...... Insomnia TV does have a use after all ;)

You're right about the muddy foot ware in Australia. When we went in about 2004 our bags were searched and my wife's trainers were pulled out and yes they were dirty. So they were disinfected there and then , the soles not the insides, and returned cleaner than before.
We also weren't allowed to take in a bottle of water. It was actually tap water from a hotel in Singapore and perfectly clean but in a branded bottle but we had to leave it behind. They also ummmed a bit about some sweets we had but they decided we could keep them eventually.
