I really struggle with this. I'm very much a minimalist and I really hate clutter I cannot bear loads of old broken "stuff" cluttering up the house or sheds, and too many seriously full cupboards can make me twitchy. So in a compromise, I stash mainly things that are multi-purpose and I don't bother with too many tins. Tins mean you have to watch use-by dates and plan meals around them.
I prefer things like porridge oats because they have a lot of uses, like soothing itchy skin in the bath/breakfast/flapjacks/thickening soups & stews.
Powdered milk.
Like flour for cakes/bread/pastry/dumplings/crumbles.
Like lentils and barley because they add bulk to many things and make soup.
Also some random things like bogrolls in case the prices goes up; knitting wool cos the price of that always goes up; and always always a good stash of meds.
But I couldn't have a house packed to the rafters with all sorts of things stuffed into all sorts of corners.
But that's just me.

I like minimalism best as a style, but I do tend to stash a lot, even though I'm forever decluttering. Not all of it is food I also have a vac cleaner that almost works I have two wicker baskets and part of me is so fed up with them round the house, and yet so unwilling to let them go, I'm thinking of turning them into plant containers in the garden

Jenny, I wouldn't get too worked up over things, take a couple of marching paces and chill. Hubs might have an idea of what you're doing, maybe not the full extent but he's maybe happy for you to 'indulge' yourself. If the pair of you have old stuff, he's obviously not the kind of 'neat freak' who tosses things out either. You maybe find he's hoarding bits and bobs of stuff himself so while he doesn't get your hoarding, can justify his own. You'll know best of course.

Since Mrs J and me have been here sans children,we have decluttered in wonderful style! Our upstairs space is now calm and minimalist. My workshop has been ruthlessly gutted, and everything is in its place. The walk in pantry is now very orderly, and the outside store has been run right down to a two person level. As I get older,I feel that clutter and disorganisation are the thieves of time.diamond lil wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 4:58 pm I really struggle with this. In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

We go the other way in this house, we believe in its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it, fortunately since we converted the garage into another room and boarded the loft our our preps do not overwhelm us. We will tend to go the 2 is 1 and 1 is none route on most things so we have TWO Berkfields, Two sets of PV setups, Two compound bows each, two large medical / surgical kits, 4 PMR radios instead of 2 etc.diamond lil wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 4:58 pm I really struggle with this. Winters?
Unless your vehicle is heavy you might find it a bit of a harsher ride with a bit less grip due to less deformation in the side walls due to the increase of plys Making up the sidewalls unless loaded to the gunnels

All seasons, the standard replacement for my van, I asked last time about fitting the lower rated tyres on it as they were cheaper but found out my insurance would be invalid if i used ordinary car tyres of the same size on a van . So LT rated tyres it is. My van is fitted out as a camper so its quite heavy anyway.Yorkshire Andy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2019 8:14 pmWinters?

I'm with you now have seen people demanding extra load on lighter vehicles in the past
The German ADAC site do some good independent tyre tests
