Pets Food

Post by Deeps »

We like to have a hefty stash of dog food in and order from Zooplus which is a German company. I mentioned this to Her Maj and that she should look for a UK alternative, even if its not quite as cheap. She's found one for the dried food we use and is continuing to look for the other bits and bobs. Just thought I'd put it out there for any other Zooplus users as something to consider.

Having been stocking up on my cat's medicines and his special kidney food for a few months now. His is Hill's Prescription food which is an American company. Probably won't have quite the same problems as a German company, but I'm guessing pet food and pet pills will be at the bottom of the urgent list should there be any problems at the ports. He's got about 6 months of food stashed, and 6 months of one of his meds, but only 2 months of his other meds. Need to boost that, but dang it's expensive!

It's surprising how many of our pets need specialist drugs and/or food these days. :(

Yes; funny that, back in the 50's and 60's (yes I am that old!) we only ever took the dog to the vet for a distemper injection, nothing else. I don't think the cats ever received any vet treatment, just the occasional Bob Martins tablet.

Thankfully our dog isn't on any drugs or special food and eats what ever is put in front of her so can bulk buy at bookers what ever is on offer easy enough. So have 3+ months on hand at a time

I think and this is just from friends dog that there is a lot more 'pedigree' dogs about and a lot of in breeding has caused the diseases and needi for medication. They seem to think it's a fashion statement to have a pure bread whatever. Ours is a collie/alsatian cross we got from the cat and dog home and wouldn't change her for the world

Our dogs are both pedigree, no problems to date..... Mind you, they're not a breed that has ever been fashionable.
The cats are just moggies.

We keep a decent quantity of wet food and biscuit in stock

Our dog is a picky old boy. However, the two Tomcats can get by on dry food, of which we are stacking plenty, as cats are annoying to the nth degree when hungry.
