I've had some problems with that, but the doctor gave me some exercises to do.

So far this week I have:
  • Written down some of my nebulous thoughts and made them into coherent plans and analysis
  • Written down long random lists of ideas and items
  • Turned a random list into a shopping list for specific food items to watch out for on offer and to top up the weekly shop with
  • Located lots of internet resources and which shelves I will head whenever I next have time to go to the proper library
First actual action: weekly shop on Monday.
Aren't you the budding pyromaniac? Cramp balls (google) may just become quote welcome. Daldinia concentrica

I liked it anyway.

I recently came back to the UK after spending 8 months traveling around Japan. It taught me a lot of things, mostly that privacy is nice, but not really necessary, as long as you have somewhere warm to sleep that's good enough and that you really don't need more than a 40 liter bag, three changes of clothes, a comfortable pair of boots and a mobile phone to survive nowadays.

Apart from the tsunamis, earthquakes, nuclear excursions and Godzilla, it sounds like the place to live out of 40 litres.

That does sound pretty cool though mate.

Hostels, 24 hour internet cafes and capsule hotels are super cheap, clean and safe. I think if I were forced to live in a hostel in the UK (homelessness), where there are lots of thefts and people don't care about their negative impact on others, it would be a lot harder.

I have been kitting out my new EDC bag after deciding that a handbag no longer meets my needs. It is a One Tigris sling pack with an added molle pouch to carry basic First Aid supplies in. It has lots of pockets and compartments, so many that it has taken me a few days to remember what I keep in each. It has also been harder than I thought to keep the weight down and to pick the right items for me to keep in it. Today I added my new multi-tool, not an expensive one, but it seems pretty sturdy. The bag is still a work in progress as there are other things I would like to add over the next week or so but I do feel slightly happier knowing that I am carrying some pretty useful items when I am out and about and away from my home and car.

They look good, never seen them before! Might get one for when I get my trike!

I had some the other day, but the wife rubbed them better

Try www.mdflashlightsetc.co.uk they always seem to have a decent range of bits for camping and survival.

This past week I've been persuading the wife to let me go on another walk about in July for a week in France. (Means she gets to shop)

I've also been looking at my EDC with the intention of re-jigging and condensing it a little further. With reading some of the older posts on here I'm considering keeping a form of BOB/Kit in my office at work. That would allow me to carry less in my bag. At present I only keep a change of clothes and shower kit at work in my filing cabinet draw.

In about 20 minutes I shall be heading to my favourite fishing lake. I am dressed to survive the cold, literally, and have a stove, food and tea for later. What has this got to do with prepping ? I hear folks ask.

Today will reinforce my unshakable belief that the bugging out idea/fantasy to a clump of woods to live( not 4 hours fishing) is the dumbest thing anyone could do at this time of year!

I couldn't agree more!

There's two inches of lying snow and the temp is -2. As far as I'm concerned you really have to be some kind of special (or called Pseudonym :D) to think it's a good idea.
