If you read the article it looks like similar plans may emerge for petrol prices (been put up at bank holidays and times of school runs) and energy suppliers using smart meter information to change prices according to when each household uses the most gas/electric. which will be harder for poorer families to avoid as they can't stock up 'off-peak' with energy as they could food if they have jobs to go to and/or kids to get ready for school every day.

That's probably going to go some way to helping Tesco out of it's current problem of varying wage rates. As the article says paper tags have to be changed manually so an electronic version could easily see the need for less staff.
And that's not to mention the ever more reliance on technogoly aspect .

Hmm....methinks I need to update my paper list of prices of things I buy in various shops to know what the "normal" price is so I know when I'm being targeted to pay more. Time for a camelcamelcamel for high-street supermarkets!
