My gear so far --->>

Post by madhatter_uk »

Don't know if this is the right place but here goes,
Heating and cooking is done by a modified Silverfire Hunter gasifier stove adapted (by myself) for water heating for shower etc, untested Pizza oven on top (will let you know how that pans out). A still is also mountable on top "for distilled water" production.
Sprouting machine for fresh "greens".
Solar panel set up for batteries.
2 generators, 1 for light work 2kva 1 heavy duty diesel 8kva.
Working on water filtration system.
" on Aquaponics ( have done hydroponics years ago).
Small water generator.
crappy axe
crappy knives
cross bow ( nice bit of kit easy to use )( mind you I did shoot my car one day straight through the door and into the seat)
various hand tools
ropes and paracords
various tarpaulins

8 x 4 trailer
insulated portable container ( used to be for aircraft meals before freeze cook system)

Stores :-
dry store of pulses, seeds and rice ( ok another type of pulse I suppose).
dry store of herbs and spices.
dry store of Himalayan salt
dry store of preserving salt
Emergency pre prepared meals (2 weeks worth for one)
huge store of canned goods in rack made for rotation so always use oldest first.
Diatomaceous Earth DE
Wysi Wipe compressed toilet wipes
dry additives ;- oxo, powdered soups and sauces
the list goes on and on and on LOL

You board yet ? yes I do go on a bit but you get the idea ?

What about water storage mate ? Even just some 2L bottles stuck away can be handy.

Yes, but my list was starting to turn into a monologue so I stopped for the moment .
I have 200 litre tank in my attic for bugging in (with filter on it )
Must admit portable water is not in my store but my boat has plenty in tanks.

Fair enough, tell us when you're finished if you're looking for any comments then.

I'm not bored, I'm intrigued do go on, is that not the half of it or what? Many of us have preps which are based around an interest, some have a clear Aldi/Lidl and outdoorsie shopping addiction

Extrapolating it looks like you want many baskets, bug in and bug out for major events, what about every day crap? And is there any area in which you are any where near ready? I don't suppose I'll ever be truly ready as I'm more an options person than one with a hard and fast plan for every event.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Great read, would be great to hear more. It's always good to compare to your own stuff, a few items on your list has given me food for thought.

Just a quick comment, 200l of water is 200kg, that's a lot of load in one spot of an attic floor unless it's set over a supporting wall.
Look forward to the rest of the list.

It's probably a header tank, we have one. Ours is directly above the hot water tank.

Thinking about it, that gives us over 400L of potable water indoors! Woohoo!

Just remember if you have a central heating headset tank it's probably filled with fernox or similar which whilst not toxic it won't be good to drink / wash with
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine
