It was 32 C here at one point... No different for me though as once summer came with the threat of operation stack I started carrying extra water in the car.

Average Kent police response time for emergency food and water supplies to stranded drivers on the M20 can be up to 12 hours.

In winter it's blankets, water and emergency snacks

Consider yourselves lucky!

Our police do not respond for snack runs.

You get into that vehicle and you are on your own.

I keep a week of food/water, change of clothes, tent and sleeping bag in each vehicle.

The reason for emergency supply runs is due to drivers being stranded for several days, and a lot of the people aren't local on their way to the port so do not think about it. It is a massive police operation. Portable toilets are dropped in and al sorts.

It's supposed to be just for HGV's but the tailbacks build up so bad even the police end up stuck inside the tailbacks. People popping out shopping for a day or going to France for a day trip can end up imprisoned on the carriageway
