If like any prepper you keep your car topped up with fuel you can't beat a 12v heating element or a travel kettle (must run the engine tho)

Food pouch on manifold heat shield.....

Many times I've rewarmed/heated my fish and chips that way :)

I tried the cans when i was a courier, but started taking a flask instead as they just never worked as they should, a friend of mine has the mre heating pouches which i think are reusable, he likes them alot, the heatpack meals look good, but are alot of money, if they work out £5 a meal, think what you could get for that instead!
i think a couple as a backup might be worth having, but at the price i would only use them as a last resort, stove in the passanger side footwell works just fine, also keeps you warm without running your engine, you can use a welding or fire blanket over the seat if it worries you?

I just spotted them online and wondered if anyone had tried that, thought someone on here would have!

I did find a site too that sold emergency ration packs to last for different times - 72hrs, 1 month , 3 months etc. I was watching that movie the other night 'The Day After Tomorrow' and scaring myself silly with the thought of ridiculous amounts of snow and no gas or electric for weeks..lol!

Just thought maybe handy for my emergency stores to have a small supply of some kind of self heating food in the rare event of snow for weeks and fuel running out!

Don't forget that British Army ration packs , "can" be eaten cold , yes it tastes like eating lard , but when calories is what you need . But yes a hot meal is more uplifting , I have eaten them hot, cold and all inbetween and survived.
Just watch the prices where your buying from . Some "packs" are quite expensive for what they are
Put a ration pack together yourself
Beckie's
Instant Oats Cup (just add hot water)
Morning Snack
Choccy bar /Trail Mix
Lunch
Paste (tinned or wee bottle ) and oat cakes
Tin of Soup
Dinner
Tin of Potatoes
Tin of Carrots
Tin of Stew
Pudding
Fruit Cocktail
Supplements
Bag of boil sweets

I'm going to price that to see just how much it is

you got wooden fences?

http://www.screwfix.com/p/forge-steel-b ... 0wod_BMMSg

and a wood gas stove

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/37155193 ... noapp=true

i had a near miss at the weekend with some old fence panels and the garden incinerator by scorching the new fence with the old one  thank goodness for the garden hose  (can only store so much wood)

thinking a standard cheap £20 BQ fence panel will keep you fed for a good week with a wood gas stove ;)

A couple of weeks ago i bought everything dried that Morrisons had (that i liked) in a flat packet not stuff like pot noodle as it takes up too much room, and been going through them and these mushots are not too bad, also something called "Snack Stop" seem to be OK, as i say i bought one of each but if cash is tight email the company and tell them you want one of each flavour and see what they say, i have done it in the past for other stuff and sometimes they come through and for the sake of an email it's worth a shot

Please bear in mind i am prepping for the River Thames to flood and how i can get to safe ground, I'm not worried about the end of the world..... I'll die with the other Minions.
I can't trust Govt or local Council to help me so i have to help myself.

Has anyone tried this? they also do a mess tin size one, i cant beleive ive not seen them before, i finaly realised that you do need to replace the packs, but Millets are currently doing the flask one for £12 in their sale and if you use the code "spring20" it basicly gives you free postage on something that size, i'm very tempted as from the youtube vids they are just as good as the military ones!

So pretty much what you were after, you just add water and your choice of drink or soup or whatever really?

I just noticed that the company Yellowstone do pretty much the same thing too.

I like the mugshots, they are quite tasty and i used to have at work if I didn't get time to take a lunch break.

I bought a few of the knorr packet soups last week and they are quite tasty, a bit salty but edible, a handful of the weeny soup pastas or a pack of dried noodles makes it more filling.
