Re: So,have your preps been useful?
I've used cash to pay takeaway delivery drivers and the window cleaner but other than that it's been contactless all the way. As well as my normal current account I also have accounts with Starling and Revolut which I usually use abroad as it's cheaper (whole 'nother ball game there). I've tended to...

Re: Essex Ham Radio Free Learning Course
OMG  :? I am *so* far from understanding any of this :( I'm really good at "big picture" science, a la Horizon TV programme :ugeek: but using formulae and understanding voltage, current etc rather than nodding at them on a list and moving on ... nope. Even taking the test for modul...

Re: Balance of probabilities
If i were thinking of maxing out i'd be tempted to wait at least six months just to see how the economies are faring in the light of the current pandemic. 100% this. There's likely to be a property price crash over the next 6-12 months (experts predicting anything up to 25% drop). I would sit tight...

I'm gonna have a go at this, thanks. One thing though, I have hearing loss in both ears (heavy metal) and have trouble understanding speech if it isn't very clear; do these here amateur radios have good sound quality ? I supose I should dg out my Baofeng and have a listen to the repeaters, @arzosah...

Re: Furloughed Workers
My god. What the hell do these muppets expect people to live on?   Savings of course. Everyone has savings don't they ? The problem is that most politicians have never had to live "hand to mouth" and have never mixed with people that do. They think that anyone who is...

Food Delivery Alternative suppliers
Someone told me last week that local wholesalers are looking for new outlets as all the Hotels and restaurants are now closed. After a bit of searching I found one local to me who will deliver and yesterday afternoon stuck an order in for a few bits. The feller just delivered it ! Some of the stuff ...

Re: Lockdown?
I'm getting the train to meet my mates in the pub tomorrow, going to a football stadium on Saturday and flying to Spain next week . Bovvered ? Nah. So, that ended well. Cut the holiday short by 2 weeks and cost us £300 to get the last two seats on the last scheduled flight back home (the alternativ...
